FIELD: casting of metals. SUBSTANCE: within this method metal is fed into crystallizer, ingot is drawn out of crystallizer with varying speed, slag mixture is fed to meniscus of metal in crystallizer, crystallizer is cooled with running water. Ingot is supported and guided with the help of rollers, ingot surface is cooled with a cooler dispersed by injectors, temperature of ingot surface is measured. In the process of continuous casting relation of light spots areas to that of dark spots is determined on a local section of ingot surface temperature measuring. On its basis the real temperature value of ingot surface is determined according to the function given in description of invention. EFFECT: improved quality of ingots. 1 tbl
