FIELD: welding of thermoplasts. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying antifriction gasket onto materials to be joined and pressing gasket tightly against supporting surface and materials by flexible pattern, with heated slide movable along material connection zone being pressed against guiding surface of pattern and cooling of connection zone being effectuated under pressing force of cooling slide shank. Apparatus has pressure member formed as flexible pattern with slide guiding surface. Slide has cooling shank at its end portion. Electric heating member of welding tool is made in the form of posistor, which is connected with slide through heat flow guide. Electric heating member and heat flow guide are provided with thermal insulator. Supporting surface, flexible pattern working surface and antifriction gasket are made in conformance with contact surfaces of materials to be joined. Supporting surface is magnetized. Flexible pattern is made from magnetically soft material. Supporting surface is made transparent to provide visual observation of seam formed in reflected light. Manual welding tool has slide with cooling shank at its end. Electric heating member is made in the form of posistor connected with slide through heat flow guide. Electric heating member and heat flow guide are provided with thermal insulator. Welding tool axis inclination angle is within the range of 30-45 deg. Slide is removably fixed on heat flow guide. Welding tool is provided with quick-change shoes for attachment on heat flow guide end. Shoes are formed as runners with different working surfaces.
