SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring displacement of zone proximate main cutting edge, with displacement value representing maximum tension stress acting on cutting plate front surface; correcting position of zone proximate main cutting edge on the base of data obtained by measurement so that compressive stress equal to maximum tension stress is developed on front surface of cutting plate.
