METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF BUTYL RUBBER Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: petrochemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves copolymerization of izobutylene with isoprene in hydrocarbon solvent and in presence of aluminium-organic catalyst at temperatures from -80 to -50 C and a volume relation of comonomers and hydrocarbon solvent ranging from 3:7 to 4:1. The method is realized in presence of chlororganic solvent ethylchloride in the reaction mixture. The method comprises deactivation, averaging, stabilization, degassing and drying of rubber, directing the vapors of degassing for processing. The method is distinguished by certain changes in processing the polymer solution after stoppering. Such a solution first enters a reaction vessel where it is treated by live steam and vapors of degassing flowing from the second degasifier. The process conducted in the first reaction vessel may be termed both as degassing and averaging. The streams discharged from the first reaction vessels are directed for processing and the treated solution is delivered into a crumbler where a flow of live steam and, separately, a stream of antioxidant and antiagglomerant are delivered. Then the solution of rubber is delivered into a degassing system from the second and third degasifiers. The third degasifier is filled with live steam and the second one, with degassing vapors discharged from the third degasifier in combination with live steam. Degassified rubber is then used for concentrating rubber crumbs, wringing them of water, and drying. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 dwg
