FIELD: cutting tool production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of subjecting blanks of cutting tools to normalization at 880-900 C and to two-stage tempering with curing over 1 hour for each stage; performing a first stage of tempering at temperature 350-370 C, a second stage at temperature 550-570 C; working of tool blanks along their cutting faces by a depth value, equal to (0.3-0.5)mm; quenching them from 1220 C; realizing two-stage tempering at 560 C over 1 hour foe each stage and finally working of cutting faces by depth 0.02-0.03 mm. EFFECT: working of tools without formation of burning-on for providing their enhanced rigidity, wear resistance and high degree of working surface finish. 1 cl, 2 tbl
