FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: combustion chamber is bounded by spherical recess 1 made in head 2 of cylinder 3 and bottom 6 of piston 7. The recess is enclosed by uniformly arranged, tangential face projections and hollows defining charge swirlers. The piston is provided with cylindrical hollow 8. Face projections 4 abut against the central spherical part of the hollow when piston 7 is in the top dead center. Spark plug 10 or fuel nozzle 11 are mounted inside spherical hollow 1 of head 2 and used as an ignitor. Central spherical part 9 on bottom 6 of piston 7 is convex and connected with cylindrical hollow 8 by way of surface 12 of radius R₁. The center of the radius is in coincident with the center of radius R₂ which rounds inner side 13 of face projections 4 when piston 7 is in the top dead center. Surface 12 having radius R₁ and a part of the central convex sphere 9 define ring deflector partially overlapping inner side 13 of face projections 4 when piston 7 is in the top dead center.
