FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: 2,4-dinitrophenol is used as reagent 1, bromine or bromides of alkali metals being used as reagent 2. Reaction is carried out at 60 C in the presence of oxidizing agent. The process is followed by treatment thus obtained reaction mass with sulfite of alkali metal and by reduction 6-brom-2,4-dinitrophenol. Yield of desired product is 69 %, its melting point being 162-163 C. EFFECT: improves efficiency of the method.
