FIELD: plasma diagnosis. SUBSTANCE: method involving measurement of anode-to-cathode potential drop is based on potential drop measurement during two discharges at same discharge currents and electron densities in it; separate anode is used for initiating each discharge; anode have different work of electron outlet; after that two of potential drop are compared by using inequality given in description of invention. EFFECT: enlarged diagnostic range due to provision for diagnosing discharge glowing in strong magnetic fields, small electrode gaps, difficult-to-get-at places.
