FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of metal oxide powders, namely to production of iron oxide powder. Method involves electrolysis on alternating current of asymmetric shape with frequency of 20 Hz, at current density of anode and cathode half-periods of 2.5 and 1 A/cm2 and frequency of ultrasonic action on electrodes of 35–100 kHz, using destructible iron electrodes. Electrolysis is carried out in 10–13 M KOH solution without preheating of electrolyte, with application of alternating rectangular current of asymmetric shape, at anode potential of 2–3 V, anode pulse duration of 5–20 ms, at cathode potential of 1–1.5 V, cathode pulse duration of 5–10 ms, wherein voltage at anode in pause makes 0.9–1.2 V, pause duration in anode half-period makes 20–40 ms.
EFFECT: higher output of end product, reduced power consumption, higher efficiency of electrolytic cell.
