FIELD: thermal engineering. SUBSTANCE: vortex tube has gas admission assembly incorporating case 4, gas admission pipe union 1, nozzle scroll 2, diaphragm 3, and washer 6 placed between power separation chamber 8 and gas admission assembly. Scroll 2 and diaphragm 5 are built integral with case 4; at mating point of round-section admission pipe union 1 and rectangular scroll channel on its inlet part and, respectively, on washet 6, there is void in the form of truncated body of revolution arranged coaxially with the latter and having its larger base corresponding to inner diameter of admission pipe union; void depth equals at least 0.5 of admission pipe uniin diameter and that of smaller base equals height of scroll channel.
