METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING RESECTION CAPABILITY OF LUNG AND MEDIASTINUM TUMORS Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting skin and subcutaneous fat making 30 mm long incision at the place the fourth pair of ribs is attached to the breast bone under local anesthesia by means of Novocaine at a dose of 50 ml and tendinous fibers are revealed at blunt and acute angle. Breast bone compact layer perforation is performed by means of bore. Needle is screwed into the so obtained hole by means of mandrin handle at a depth of 4 mm. Needle cannula is connected with Waldmann apparatus by means of polyvinyl chloride tube. The Waldmann apparatus is filled with physiologic salt solution containing 5000 units of heparin. Initial intraosseous blood pressure, maximum pressure during the dosed 15 min Wallsalve test time the pressure falls from the maximum one to the initial value are measured. The obtained measurement results are treated using a formula V_c=(H-h)/t, where V_c is the breast bone intraosseous pressure fall rate, H is the maximum intraosseous blood pressure in the breast bone, h is the initial intraosseous blood pressure in the breast bone, t is the time the pressure falls from the maximum value to the initial one. If the intraosseous pressure fall rate is 0.2 mm of water column/s and less, nonresectable tumor is diagnosed. If the intraosseous pressure fall rate is greater than 0.2 mm of water column/s, resectable tumor is diagnosed. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of diagnosis. 1 tbl
