FIELD: fire fighting facilities; automatic fire extinguishers for local protection of objects when fighting fires in solid and liquid combustible materials in stores, cable galleries, hoppers, electric cabinets and etc; it can be used in automatic fire fighting systems for fighting fire on large areas (volumes) by groups of fire extinguishers interlocked and controlled by remote automatic control system. SUBSTANCE: automatic powder fire extinguisher has hermetically sealed destructible vessel filled with fire extinguishing powder with built-in self-contained working gas generating source and starting device with temperature sensitive element. The latter is made in form of rim manufactured of polymeric temperature-sensitive material adjoining inner surface of vessel and upsetting flexible yoke of starting device. Placed between working jaws of starting device is working gas generating source which has chemically active substances isolated from each other. To provide remote starting and control of operation of fire extinguisher, temperature-sensitive element has electrically heated element made of conducting paint.
