FIELD: fire-fighting equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has hermetically sealed casing containing fire extinguishing powder, discharge nozzle, and breakable diaphragm. Electric activator, gas-generating charge and protective membrane are located in hermetically sealed chamber arranged in casing upper part and hollow fire-extinguishing powder flow splitter is secured to casing lower part in axially aligned relation to discharge nozzle. Diameter ratio of powder flow splitter and discharge nozzle is 0.2-3.0 and distance between discharge nozzle and powder flow splitter is 0.2-5.0 diameters of discharge nozzle. Apparatus of such construction provides for optimal fire-extinguishing powder discharge angle, which may be altered depending on height of room to be protected from fire, and constant specific powder charge consumption per unit of area to be protected (kgm -2). Also complete discharge of fire-extinguishing powder from casing is provided upon actuation of apparatus, and automatic actuation is ensured in case of occurrence of dangerous fire zones in the vicinity of apparatus. Apparatus is used for suppressing burning combustible liquids, solid materials and gases in rooms of different purposes and for suppressing fire in open spaces.
