FIELD: abrasive powders. SUBSTANCE: boehmite sol is prepared where seeding crystallization and sintering modifying agent were added. Then gel-formation is carried out. Gel is dehydrated and the solid xerogel is obtained. Abrasive grains were formed from xerogel followed by their calcination and short-time sintering. Aluminium nitride grains were added to the boehmite sol (0.5-30% as measured for corundum). Before addition to the boehmite sol the grains of aluminium nitride were subjected for calcination at 1250-1350 C in the air medium up to mass increase by 0.2-0.6%.
