FIELD: technology of ceramic materials. SUBSTANCE: method of a-aluminium oxide-base ceramics preparing involves roasting blanks in oxygen-containing atmosphere which were formed from aluminium-containing material powder. Aluminium-containing material is aluminium nitride powder grains of which before or after blank forming were subjected for effect of oxygen-containing atmosphere up to formation of 95.0 wt.-% aluminium oxide, not above. Blank roasting is carried out at 1500-1700 C up to ceasing mass and volume change during oxidative roasting. As a result, monophase finely grained ceramics is prepared on the basis of a-aluminium oxide showing enhanced strength properties.
