FIELD: dry distillation of wood for production of charcoal. SUBSTANCE: diffusor 7 of kiln gases is attached to ceiling of enclosure 1 with the aid of springs 6. Second identical diffusor 9 is positioned on carriage 4 under container 5 with wood. Each diffusor is manufactured in the form of plate with holes fitted with perforated packings 8. Means to feed heat transfer agent is equipped with grate 15 that overlaps it. Side columns 10 of carriage 4 are provided with rotary shutters 11 mounted at angle from 0 up to 90 deg for remote control. More complete usage of heat of kiln gases due to use of diffusors and change of flow of gases with the aid of shutters leads to enhanced productivity of kiln.
