FIELD: hydraulic structures, in particular, methods for protection of hydraulic structures. SUBSTANCE: method for protection of a structure provides making protective shell 1, its shipment, installation and filling with bulk spoil. Shell 1 is installed as designed with pontoon preliminary brought inside. The pontoon is provided with process equipment or self-lifting floatable drill installation. Soil core 2 is poured under pontoon or drill installation lifted by "legs" 12 inside protective shell 1. Folded up pontoon or drill installation are brought inside protective shell when floating, under protective shell immersed onto water reservoir bottom. Protective shell may be folded up for shipping and be folded up in design position. This is achieved by joining together panels 3 and 4 along perimeter of soil core 2. The panels are hinged in pairs and hinged to firm frame-like skeleton in the upper part of the shell, and to skeleton on rigidly interconnected floatable pontoons in shell base. Protective shell may be stiffened at the expense of additional rim, winding with cable 21, driving piles, concreting voids in panels, or making the shell of two layers with filling spacing between the layers with appropriate material.
