FIELD: production of ceramics for electronic industry. SUBSTANCE: method for production of metal nitride includes mixing of aluminium powder and 15-40 mas. % of ammonium halide - fluoride, bromide, chloride, iodide or their mixture; placing them in enclosed reactor; filling of reactor with nitrogen up to pressure of 12.0-15.0 MPa; igniting the mixture to conduct the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis; and washing with hot water to fully remove additive. Additionally introduced into the initial mixture may be up to 55 mas.% of AlN. Yield of AlN is 96-99 mas.%; powder particles are close to spherical shape; specific surface up to 12.0 sq.m/g; specific heat conduction of 150-170 W m/K. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 1 tbl
