FIELD: production of inorganic materials. SUBSTANCE: metal (titanium, aluminium, etc.) powder is loaded into reactor as continuously falling controlled flow. Simultaneously nitrogen under pressure 0.1-5.0 MPa is countercurrent- wise fed. After metal powder bed attains at most 1/10 reactor volume, powder is kindled and reaction is carried out in the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis mode. Resultant metal nitride is continuously or periodically withdrawn. Nitrogenation degree is at least 96.4%. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process.
