FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely plants, processing stannum concentrates and industrial products. SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining stannum from tin containing materials, comprising steps of processing pellets in a shaft-type double-zone reactor with temperature in its lower zone, equal to (810-900) C; reducing the pellets by gas, including hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and water vapor; subsequent separation of melt tin from solid residues; reducing the pellets in the lower zone of the reactor upon ratio of summed concentrations of carbon dioxide and water vapor to summed concentrations of carbon monoxide and elemental hydrogen up to 1; at zone interface feeding (with use of tuyeres) air in quantity, being more than 10-30% of theoretically needed for afterburning of reducing gases; at that steps in an upper zone heating the pellets upon temperature 830-850 C. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of the method. 1 tbl
