FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: mounted on ship's hull 1 above waterline are wing members 2 at negative angle of attack. Wing members 2 have ratio of wing span to its chord lesser than one; wing members 2 have rectilinear, rhomboid or elliptical form in plane frames. When ship is running in smooth water, wing members work as spray deflectors. In swell, they work either as lifting surfaces or as damping plates which prevent development of heaving motion and pitching motion depending on nature of flow.
