FIELD: lacquer and dye production. SUBSTANCE: dicyclopentadiene is isolated from the products of cyclopentadiene dimerization using thermostatic control of the C5-fractions originating from the pyrolysis of a petroleum product with subsequent rectification of the thermodimerization products in presence of steam in two columns. The top distillate in the first column is a low-boiling C - C-hydrocarbon fraction, whereas that in the second column is the target product in the form of azeotrope with steam. The target product is finally isolated from the azeotrope. EFFECT: new method proposed. 2 tbl
