FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: device has housing 1 made in the form of hollow solid of revolution with conical guide channel 2 accommodating split brake member 3 made in form of two conical segments with axial groove with cylindrical recesses for thread. Housing has outer screw thread with turned on union nut 4. Loading spring 5 and washers 6, 7 are placed between inner end face surface of nut and end faces of conical segments. Opening is made in end face portion of nut to let pass pulled thread. Nut 4, spring 5 and washers 6, 7 form pressure mechanism. Thread 9 is passed through axial groove in conical segments through opening in nut and is delivered for winding. If friction forces between segments and thread cause rise in tension, segments get unwedged and release the thread, and in case of weakening of tension, segments get wedged under action of spring, thus providing designed thread braking effort.
