FIELD: radioactive waste recovery. SUBSTANCE: method involves mixture preparation from pre-calcined waste, curing agent, energy carrier, and oxidizing agent, its compacting, and introduction into hermetically sealed reactor. Mixture is subjected to thermal treatment under self-propagating high-temperature fusion conditions. Hot product of fusion is compacted until highly dense material is obtained which is sent for burial. Aluminium and/or titanium is commonly used as energy carrier, calcium peroxide and/or titanium, as oxidizing agent. EFFECT: facilitated procedure, improved reliability of immobilizing radionuclides in solid array. 4 cl, 3 ex
