FIELD: hydraulic engineering researches in geodetic and hydrologic surveying. SUBSTANCE: in the method of determination of flow rates and depths of water passages consisting in preliminary calibration of the lead-and-line and float, sinking of the lead-and-line with the float in the water passage, measurement of the float shift additionally measured are the time of lead-and-line sinking and the time of float emersion, and the sought values are determined by the respective formulas with due account made for the influence of turbulence according to the results of measurement, which brings about an increase of the accuracy of measurement of flow rate and depth. The device for accomplishment of the method uses a metal lead-and-line with a movable holder, wooden float- integrator connected to the holder by means of a collet, system of electrical components and an external electric power source.
