FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: for determining stresses in minable strata of oil and gas strata, first structural layout of deposit is plotted according to data resulted from seismic and geophysic investigations, and large and small axes of deposit are found. Investigation of bore core material obtained at drilling processing holes allows for determining integral value of rock density across and to depth of minable stratum and obtaining minimal horizontal stress of rock. Maximal horizontal stress is found from its dependence on relation of large and small axis of deposit and value of minimal horizontal stress. Knowledge of actual values of rock stresses helps avoid mistakes in drilling holes. EFFECT: high efficiency.
