FIELD: metal machining, in particular, machining oval holes of tubes by coned cutter using universal metal working equipment, for instance, drawing machines. SUBSTANCE: device has coned cutter 1 with two rods 5 installed in cutter holder just opposite to each other at equal angles to cutter axis so as to enable to be moved along its axes. Templet 2 and templet rolls 8 are provided, with each templet roll placed at one rod end, and cutting member 7 at another. The angle to cutter axis for setting up the rods is 30 - 45 degrees. When machining oval hole the tubular article II is installed on machine table. Coned cutter 1 is secured by cutter tail in machine spindle. The cutter comes on to rotate, and table with tubular workpiece comes to move vertically. As cutter 1 rotates movable rods 5 execute reciprocation at constant amplitude to form subsequently counter of the oval and vertical wall along inner counter of the oval hole. The movable rolls are in contact with spring loaded templet rolls 8 to closed templet surface A. Oval hole counter is formed by cutting member 7 by cutting machining allowance.
