FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to nondestructive testing. Information beam of acoustic waves interacts with optical radiation in localized medium optically and acoustically transparent. As result diffraction optical spectrum emerges. Light intensity in maxima is measured. Appearance of defect in path of information acoustic beam results in change of its intensity and therefore in change of acoustic and optical parameters of localized interaction medium which cause of light intensity in diffraction maxima. Result of measurement is processed by specified algorithm and is compared with the setting. Device for implementation of given method includes receiving-emitting converter having acoustic path composed of piezoelements and optical path presenting scanner which incorporates laser, former of light of specified shape, fibre-optical strip and movement mechanism. Operation of matrix of piezoelements and scanner is synchronized by control unit. Receiving-emitting converter is coupled to peripheral information processing unit.
