FIELD: plastic working of metals. SUBSTANCE: method involves positioning cylindrical billet with double-sided facets on planetary deforming module; bringing smoothing punch to working end of billet; fixing billet in die cavity between smoothing punch, module and support; effectuating end upsetting in alteration with billet deformation by smoothing punch with following idle smoothing of formed billet. In the process of deformation, module and billet are alternatively imparted dynamic instability state to provide rotational plasticity modes at mesolevel. In the process of plastic deformation of billet, a portion of billet metal is repeatedly moved in reversing mode and formed billet is cooled in magnetostatic field at changing cooling rate. Formulas for determining billet deformation extent in the process of end upsetting, idle smoothing time, formed billet holding time and magnetic field intensity are recited in Specification.
