FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: first head of a rod is headed from a blank. Arresters of movement of scrapers- centering members made up as closed rings are then fitted on the blank. The diameter of the rings is greater than the diameter of the blank but less than the diameter of the maximum diameter of the head of the rod. The second head of the rod is then headed. Heat treatment, straightening, and machining of the rod is carried out when rings are on the blank. After straightening arresters are positioned in a required position and squeezed plastically over the whole surface of the ring. EFFECT: simplified design.
