FIELD: mining, chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: starting dross is ground, treated with hydrogen chloride and separated into acid-insoluble residue and scandium-containing solution. The latter is treated with phosphorus-containing sorbents to extract scandium. Sorbents are further washed and desorption of scandium is accomplished using reactive solutions such as sodium or ammonium carbonate solutions. Scandium is deposited from these reactive solutions in the form of oxalate or hydroxycarbonate salts, which are washed, dried, and calcined to obtain final product.
