FIELD: mechanical engineering; repair and reconditioning; hand arc welding. SUBSTANCE: at hand arc welding preliminary heating is carried out by arc of consumable electrode moved over face of edges scarfed through 30-10 degrees relative to surface of workpieces at a speed of 0.5 mm/s. Current density on electrode is 50 A/mm2. Process is carried out until solid string bead is formed in edge root. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities.
