FIELD: petroleum product processing. SUBSTANCE: carbon-containing material is loaded into a bath with molten metal. There are two phases of molten metal in the bath. The first one consists of metal having, under bath conditions, greater free energy of oxidation than free energy of oxidation of atomic carbon into carbon monoxide and wherein atomic carbon is rather readily soluble. The second phase consists of metal having greater free energy of oxidation than free energy of oxidation of carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. EFFECT: accelerated decomposition of raw material. 11 cl, 2 dwg
