FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: ignition system comprises ignition coil 1, first winding 2 of which is connected to power source 4 through electronic switch 5, capacitor element 8 connected between the leads of the primary winding, and unit 6 for generating a series of pulses the input of which is connected with shaper 7 of control signals and output is connected to the input of the controller of electronic switch 5. Ignition coil 1 and capacitor element 8 form LC-circuit. Unit 6 for generating a series of pulses is adjusted to operate at a frequency that is integer times less than a resonant frequency of the LC-circuit. Duration and power of the continuous discharge in spark plugs vary depending on condition of operation of an engine. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 8 cl, 3 dwg
