FIELD: strength tests of nuclear reactor containment and vessel models. SUBSTANCE: vessel is loaded with internal pulsed pressure built up by compressing liquid medium within vessel through initiating impulse energy release in gas holding vessel placed therein that has deformable wall. Maximum pressure is maintained within desired time interval by providing for plastic deformation of side wall of vessel containing gaseous medium as pressure rises in it; material, thickness, and radius of this wall are chosen so as to ensure loss of its stability as soon as pressure in liquid reaches its maximum in time corresponding to time within which maximum pressure is maintained during emergency energy release. Parameters of impulse energy release source and gas holding vessel should meet equation given in description of invention. Time of stability loss can be adjusted by energy take-off from gas vessel by metal bodies having melting point of 930 K and higher. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 2 cl, 1 dwg
