FIELD: electrolysis industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diaphragms containing asbestos fibers designed for electrolytic baths, connection of such diaphragms to cathode element and methods for fabricating such diaphragms and connecting them to cathode element in wet conditions. In particular, invention concerns a microporous diaphragm that may be produced, in proper place, consisting of an asbestos-based fibrous film whose fibers are hold together on a micro-level by fluorine-containing polymer, whereupon the unit is caked. The film has about 3-35 wt % of fluorine-containing polymer, 2-50 wt % of oxohydroxide of at least one metal selected from groups IVA, IVB, VB, and VIB or lanthanide and actinide subgroups, and 20-95 wt % of fiber material wherein asbestos fibers portion is at least 1%. EFFECT: improved material and procedure for fabricating electrolyzer diaphragms. 6 cl
