FIELD: medicine; veterinary medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves dissection of tissue, fixing, dehydration, pouring, and staining followed by evaluation of shrinkage. Compared are linear and surface characteristics of two microscopic sections, one obtained by the use of the common technique and the other obtained in a cryostat and stained with toluidine blue. EFFECT: simpler and more accurate method.
