FIELD: transport engineering; automobile lights. SUBSTANCE: headlight has light source in form of axial cylinder whose axis lies under reflector axis (x). Shield edge is square to axis (x-y) and it lies near object focus $$$ of plano-convex lens. Reflector opening is wider at top than at bottom. Light source is shifted toward reflector top (y), and axis of lens is parallel to reflector axis (x). Reflector is either of standard shape or is made in form of two semiellipses in radial sections and in form of parabola at edge and form of ellipse at top (y) in axial sections. Axis of parabola is parallel with reflector axis (y). Lens aperture is limited by non-transparent circular segments. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities; increase light efficiency of headlight. 9 cl, 4 dwg
