FIELD: tool engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves repairing cutting steel by electric arc fusing, with cold-hardened and adjoining metal layers being removed prior to fusing; conducting thermal treatment, grinding and sharpening. EFFECT: reduced thermal treatment cycle and, as a result, reduced thermal action on tool geometry, elimination of cracking and improved quality of repaired cutting tool.
