FIELD: high-power pulsed light sources intended to produce multiple intensive flashes of short duration. SUBSTANCE: gas- discharge pulsed light source has two coaxially arranged dielectric tubes. At last one of them is made of optically transparent material, and the other has a reflecting coating. Inert gas fills the space between the tubes, annular electrode assemblies are installed on the opposite ends of the tubes. The light source has an insulator and a return current lead. The annular electrode assemblies have a composite construction. Cylindrical electrode lugs, that are evenly spaced on the end part of the electrode projecting into the discharge space, are made of refractory metal or alloy with a spherical surface at the end. The total area of the spherical ends is not less than the area of the electrode end surface; the total area of the free cylindrical and spherical surfaces exceeds the area of the electrode end projecting into the discharge space by 1.1 to 2 times. The gaps between the electrodes and ends of the dielectric tubes, as well as not more than 1/3 of the volume of the space between the tubes and electric from the tube ends, are filled with material based on silicone rubber and protected by metal foils. Cylindrical gaps between the electrode and tubes are not less than (1.2 to 2) Δx, where Dx - design maximum the electrodes and tubes in service. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
