FIELD: purification of exhaust gases. SUBSTANCE: invention solves task of developing effective catalyst and method of preparation thereof by way of increasing purification degree of exhaust gases, and that not only for dry and wet gas mixtures but also in presence of sulfur dioxide being admixture in most real gases to be purified and acting as strong catalyst poison. In particular, catalyst based on iron-containing zeolite in decationized form is utilized composed of (in wt %) zeolite with 0.3-1.6 wt % ferric oxide, 75-85; calcium oxide, 0.1-2.6; and silica (binding agent) 17-22. Catalyst preparation involves introducing specified quantity of iron cations before hydrothermal synthesis of zeolite powder and introducing calcium oxide when preparing paste for granulation of catalyst with binding material.
