FIELD: medicine used as tranquilizer. SUBSTANCE: styrene. Reagent 2: sodium nitrate. Reaction conditions: at molar ratio of 1:2.2 in organic solvent in the presence of mineral acid at 0-10 C followed by boiling the resulting dimer of alpha-nitroso-beta- nitroethylbenzene in lower aliphatic alcohol in the presence of catalytic amount of triethylamine followed by addition of methanol, and condensation is carried out in the presence of sodium hydroxide at molar ratio of beta- nitro-styrene to malonic ester to sodium hydroxide of 1.0:1.3-1.0, and treatment involves the use of concentrated hydrochloric acid in amount 7-12 moles per mole of the reducing product. EFFECT: improved properties of the title compound.
