FIELD: preparation of extra-pure substances. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasma-chemical synthesis of ordinary and double oxides of a series of elements such as zirconium dioxide, aluminium oxide, titanium dioxide, and zirconium dioxide alloyed with yttrium oxide. Invention may find use in production of ceramic materials, polishing compositions, oxide coatings, etc. Method involves spraying thermolysis of organic or water-organic solutions of element-containing compounds, which, in the form of a stream, are introduced at angle 30-60 C into vertical effluent stream of oxygen plasma along with symmetrical stream of molecular oxygen at plasma jet temperature 2500-3500 K. Drop size of element-containing compound solution is 1•10-4-5•10-5 cm. Amount of oxygen entered into reactor 1.1-1.2 times exceeds stoichiometrically required amount.
