FIELD: vitamins. SUBSTANCE: method of synthesis of beta-carotene is based on the reducible dimerization of retinal with active forms of low-valence titanium compounds containing in reaction mass. The latter is prepared preliminary by electrochemical dissolving titanium in acetic acid at water content 0.5 wt.-%, not above. Retinal is used as retinal complex with hydroquinone. The end product is purified by recrystallization from a mixture benzene-ethanol or chloroform-methanol. Synthesis product is used in medicine as medicinal antitumor agent.
