FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: coke in upper and lower parts of coke quenching chamber is cooled down by indirect heat exchange using built-in heat exchange cooling surfaces. As coolant, lower heat exchange cooling surfaces use deaerated water supplied from water source with temperature 30-40 C. Water thus-used is withdrawn to separating drum to be later used as feed water supplied to upper cooling surfaces.
