FIELD: electromechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: strip is divided in longitudinal direction into parts with slots receiving respective teeth by means of numeric-control cutting tool, such as by laser beam, over zigzag contour while strip is continuously and steplessly conveyed; cutting pitch is varied in steps for each next turn to be wound. Cutting tool is moved according to specified program over closed path that has two longitudinal sections and two ones inclined to band movement; desired shape of tooth (slot) of magnetic core produced is obtained due to addition of tool and longitudinally cut strip movements. EFFECT: improved output capacity and reduced waste of electric steel, as well as enlarged functional capabilities of tooth region manufacture and improved degree of process automation and flexibility. 5 cl, 5 dwg
