FIELD: metallurgy, casting production. SUBSTANCE: closed casting head has ledge, generatrix of one of surfaces of which is located at angle of 90 - 95 deg to plane of split. Ledge in longitudinal direction is made rectilinear or shaped, corresponding to casting head contour. Height of ledge is locate at distance of 10 - 30 mm from top of casting head. Because ledge has big volume moulding mixture at beak of ledge is not sintered an smelt metal in casting head through pores in mixture has constant link with atmosphere, providing feeding of ingot.
