FIELD: power sources, power sources for welding in particular. SUBSTANCE: method of mains alternating voltage conversion into welding current provides for rectification of mains voltage, conversion of rectified voltage into high-frequency voltage of inverter, frequency of which is higher, than frequency of mains voltage, transformation lowering of inverter high-frequency voltage to voltage required for welding current creation. Rectification of mains voltage is exercised simultaneously with its multiplying by N fold, with N - bigger or equal to 1.5. It allows to use cheaper transistors, that have lower operational currents with maximum allowed voltage between collector and emitter (V e/c), higher mains voltage (V m) by above N fold. Power source, that realizes the method has small dimensions, weight and cost. EFFECT: method allows to use power source of small dimensions, weight and cost. 3 cl, 9 dwg
