FIELD: processes for cleaning water by filtration. SUBSTANCE: in order to clean water from impurities, it is passed through layer of crystalline graphite comprising, wt. -%: carbon, 96.80-10.00; SiO₂, 1.63-29.80; 0.87-25.20 Al₂O₃, 0.87-25.20; 0.70-35.00 of metals (iron, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, manganese, titanium or the like with particle size of 0.30-4.00 mm at rate of 0.05-2.5 l/kg per hour, sorbent is regenerated by treatment with water at 5-10 C, solid and liquid phase is separated.
