FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of purifying waste water during treatment and purification of waste water from toxic compounds. The method of obtaining a titanium coagulant involves preparation of a flotation concentrate from titanium-containing ore leucoxene, calcination until obtaining a concentrate with titanium dioxide content of not less than 50% and silicon dioxide of not more than 25%. A mixture based on the concentrate, coke and lignosulphonate in ratio of 4:1.3:1 is briquetted and chlorinated at temperature lower than 600°C. After purification, the obtained mixture undergoes synthesis which involves hydrolysis of titanium and silicon chlorides in water and then addition of aluminium hydroxide. The paste-like mass of coagulant obtained after separation of the liquid phase is heated to 102°C and dried at temperature not higher than 135°C. The dried solid phase is crushed to obtain a coagulant in powdered form. The method of using the coagulant involves addition of 10-50% of aqueous solution of titanium coagulant to the purified water in amount of not less than 5 mg/l in terms of the powdered coagulant.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain high-quality drinking water in real conditions with stable decontamination properties with prolonged effect.
